Johnson Controls YORK Chillers — OSAT Semiconductor Facility, Assam
Unloading, shifting and positioning of Johnson Controls YORK chiller units and DOL starter panels at India's first OSAT semiconductor assembly and test facility, executed under TATA Projects' site management.

The Challenge
A semiconductor facility under active construction imposes constraints a conventional industrial site does not. The chiller units had to be moved into position inside a partially completed structure — no crane access to the final placement area, restricted headroom, an unfinished floor surface, and the Assam monsoon running through the deployment window. Site access was shared with multiple concurrent contractors, and the units themselves are high-value OEM equipment where surface damage is not recoverable on site.
Our Approach
IPN LIFTERS mobilised a 14-man crew — every member police-verified, medically cleared and enrolled under PF and ESIC before entering site — alongside a dedicated tools and tackles fleet dispatched under formal road challan. With crane access unavailable at the placement point, the units were skidded into position using 100-tonne hydraulic jacks, hydraulic pumps, 18-tonne cargo trolleys and pipe rollers, running on MS plate track laid over the unfinished floor to distribute load. Chain pulley blocks, 10-tonne belt slings and rated shackles handled controlled movement, and the units remained covered throughout to protect finished surfaces. All lifting tackle carried current third-party inspection certification.
The Result
Chiller units positioned without damage or incident. Work is ongoing at the facility, with IPN LIFTERS retained for the balance of the chiller and starter panel installation scope.
