50 MVA Transformer Unloading — L&T Jharkhand
Unloading and positioning of a 50 MVA power transformer at a new sub-station facility in Jharkhand, executed under L&T's project management.
The Challenge
The sub-station site in rural Jharkhand had limited access roads and soft ground conditions. The 50 MVA transformer had to be unloaded from a trailer with minimal crane footprint due to restricted space.
Our Approach
Ground reinforcement was carried out at the crane outrigger positions. A 100T hydraulic crane was positioned to maximise lift reach while maintaining safe load margins. The transformer was lifted, rotated, and placed directly onto the prepared foundation in a single lift sequence.
The Result
Transformer successfully placed on foundation in a single shift. L&T's project timeline was maintained with no delays caused by the handling operation.
